About me
Painting has been something that I always enjoyed and wanted to do, even as a young child. College and a career as an educator of elementary children took precedence. When I retired in the summer of 2000, the first thing I did was sign up for art classes. And, continue to take art classes, as I learn something new each day, about art and myself. I have grown as a painter and painting has become a very important part of my life. I have come from trying to paint exactly what I see with hard lines to a freer looser application of paint.
When I paint, I lose myself in what I am doing. I find that what I paint reflects who I am and how I am feeling, at that time. Sometimes, when I step back and look at the painting, I can hardly believe that I just painted that.
I have a passion for learning and I find that each piece that I create is a creative learning experience. And, I hope that whoever views what I have painted takes away some of their own feelings. Taking risks and applying new techniques to what I paint, has allowed me to loosen up. And, I find that I enjoy painting so much more. I feel that I am creating my own emotions and experiences in a way that expresses where I am and what I am about, not only at this time, but as an amalgam of my own true self.
